Curators: Mayrav Fisher & Anat Lidror

Opening Cocktail: 16.10.19, 19:00

For the first time, bringing together over 50 artworks by the two distinguished, world-renowned artists, curators and teachers: Farid Abu Shakra and Tsibi Geva, in a variety of media. The exhibition brings together a variety of their art works employing a refreshing if disturbingly haunting visual and conceptual kaleidoscopic cacophony. The exhibition reflects over thirty years of work.
Both born and lived a short distance from one another, in one reality that is actually two. Their vernacular and visual vocabulary explores both east and west; the depth and breadth of their explorations reflect their longtime interest in the place in which they exist physically, spiritually and intellectually as well as the art world in which they create.

On the eve of possibly the third set of ‘democratic’ elections in Israel in only a few months, the exhibition, interweaves these two important politically engaged artists’ art works in order to tell their individual and shared stories, our shared stories.
Timing: in conjunctions with other fantastic events in Givat Haviva
As well as our indoors fall exhibition, The GH Art Gallery commissioned the renowned street artist duo Brothers of Light, for our first year of the GH Art Gallery International Street/Mural-Art Residency.
The duo artist team is currently working on designing a mural sketch that is unique—fresh, exciting, thought provoking and visually arresting, which will consider in its imagery, the main mission of our gallery; to promote values of social justice in a shared society through art and dialogue.
We are just as intrigued as you are about the final product. We hope it will be combining visual cues/vocabulary both from the Arab/Israeli and from the European/Jewish-Israeli cultures and communities as well as the duo’s own powerfully beautiful visual vocabulary.
The duo artists will work during the festival on painting and engaging with the public. The event will be filmed and turned into a regular looped short video at the gallery’s entrance, for future visitors to experience.
All of the above happily coincide --with the annual Under the Lamp Festival 7 which takes place October 16,17,18, a collaboration of Givat Haviva and The Regional Council Menashe, which is curated by the indomitable artist/producer Atar Geva.
The multidisciplinary festival includes 70 visual and performance artists and garners as many as 7000 visitors. The festival is spread over the entire grounds of Givat Haviva and features some of the most cutting-edge artists working today in the fields of visual and performance art in Israel. The event is interactive and is appropriate to humans of all ages. Some of this year’s artists include Yaniv Amar, Michal Tobias, Mark Udel, Yara Shaaraban, Hadas Gertman, Lilach Zifroni, Noa Rosen, Shaar Markus, Doron Gazit and many more.
