Shared Society Annual Conference

The Sixth Annual Givat Haviva Shared Society Conference

Roadmap for a Shared Society: From Theory to Practice

May 6, 2018

14:00 – 19:00, Givat Haviva Campus

In its 6th year, the Givat Haviva Annual Shared Society Conference is widely recognized as the primary convening event for all actors working to build a shared society in Israel. The first five conferences (2013 - 2017) brought together hundreds of citizens and leaders from diverse sectors of Jewish and Arab society, including civil society, government, private sector, academia and the donor community, and garnered high-profile backing from State of Israel President Reuven Rivlin, U.S. President Barack Obama, and Palestinian Authority Head Mahmoud Abbas. These events provide a much-needed platform for discussions, experience sharing, and collaborative strategy development towards building a shared society in Israel.

In the project "Roadmap for a Shared Society," throughout 2016 Arab and Jewish experts formulated a work plan for the advancement of a shared society in Israel. During 2017, the recommendations were updated and refined with a broad public participation process. The final recommendations were presented in the Knesset in December 2017. The Sixth Annual Givat Haviva Shared Society Conference was a platform to discuss practical steps to promote and implement the recommendations, together with representatives of fellow organizations, national and local government and academia, ministers, Knesset members, mayors, civil society activists and leaders from Israel and around the world.
