At Givat Haviva’s Soccer for Peace Camp, Arabs and Jews play soccer together, building a shared present and future. The Soccer for Peace Camp at Givat Haviva encourages shared living by bringing Jewish and Arab youth together to focus on a common passion: soccer. Through playing together and communicating with one another in facilitated team-building activities, campers challenge preconceived notions and learn first-hand about the possibility of enjoyably sharing goals, activities, and friendship with each other.
Since 2015, Jewish and Arab boys from the region have come together for a residential camp experience featuring soccer, cultural dialogue, and social activities. The campers are divided into teams equally composed of Jews and Arabs. Each team, led by Jewish and Arab youth soccer coaches and counselors who are alumni of Givat Haviva's bi-national dialogue programs (Children Teaching Children, Through Others' Eyes, and Face to Face), spends the week of camp getting to know each other, participating in social and cultural activities, and playing soccer together.
The camp also features a concluding soccer tournament and closing ceremony with certificates and awards, plus an exhibition game with visiting diplomats, thus far from the US, Canadian, German, and Argentine embassies.
This year's Soccer for Peace Camp at Givat Haviva will take place on July 15 - 17, 2019.
