Yad Ya'ari

Yad Yaari, the Center for Research and Documentation of HaShomer HaTzair Movement and of the Kibbutz Artzi Federation, was founded in 1983 to preserve and cultivate the collective memory of the movement.

Yad Yaari strives to bring to the attention of the Jewish world - the achievements and contributions of HaShomer HaTzair and of Kibbutz Artzi over the course of the last nine decades, in the spheres of education, society, culture, settlement, security and policy. Centralizing documentation, scientific research and publication in one institution has helped maximize historical recollection, academic study and public recognition. The Center's scientific advisor of Yad Yaari is Prof. Matityahu Mintz of Tel Aviv University.

The Center also houses the HaShomer HaTzair Museum, which exhibits documents, books, flags, posters, photographs and memorabilia from the annals of HaShomer HaTzair and the Kibbutz Artzi Movement. The gallery also hosts changing exhibits, such as the recent exhibit about Haviva Reik, commemorating the 60th anniversary of her execution by the Nazis in Slovakia.
