Givat Haviva Institute
Arts Institute
The belief that art is a direct means and tool for bridging gaps and cultures, guides the various activities of the Center. Art creates dialogue through joint activity, openness and the possibility to relate to every individual in an equal manner.
The Arts Center at Givat Haviva strives to integrate arts with theoretical-social activity, to advance kibbutz, urban and Arab populations in the fields of the plastic arts, to serve as an advanced seminar for young artist of high school age and above.
Courses and projects for Jewish and Arab adults in the various fields of the arts and arts education take place mornings and evenings.
Activities for kindergarten and elementary school children also take place at the Center.
On of the Center's most successful projects is Through Others’ Eyes Project which brings together Arab and Jewish youth in the Wadi ‘Ara region, by means of photography. The teenagers are exposed to issues of coexistence and identity while studying the techniques of photography.
The participants visit one another's home and mount a joint exhibit at the end of the year. Parents are partners in the process. A similar photography project was recently launched for Jewish and Arab women in the Wadi 'Ara region .
The Peace Gallery presents Jewish and Arab artists in individual and group exhibits. The Gallery, open from September through July, hosts 8-10 exhibits every year.
